Super Shade Mix
Features 'Supra Nova'™ Bluegrass (Poa supina)
Super Shade Mix is a cool-season grass seed mixture made
of very shade tolerant grasses that will persist in shady areas
where virtually all other grasses fail. It contains shade tolerant
fine-leaved fescues and Poa supina which is a new bluegrass variety
that demonstrates incredible tolerance to shade. Our mix is very
persistent, thrives under high traffic and is a cool-season grass
mix well adapted to the Northwest.

Characteristics of Supra Nova
Very tiny seeds, germinates in 4 weeks, slow to develop so
it is best to not rake your fall leaves but blow them off with
a leaf blower.

Botanical name: Poa supina as contained in our Super
Shade Mix
Characteristics: Very tiny seeds, germinates in 4 weeks, slow
to develop so it is best to not rake your fall leaves but blow
them off with a leaf blower. It has exceptional wear tolerance,
will dominate other grasses in high traffic areas, and adapts
itself well to shady areas in as much as 40% shade. Poa supina
provides good color integration with other grass species while
it is in the process of dominating them. Poa supina is slow to
germinate so it will develop slowly with the fescues. During the
first year of establishment, the fescues will be the dominant
grasses. Poa supina will begin to exert its dominance the year
following planting. The development of any good stand of turf
requires regular watering and fertilization which are prerequisites
in establishing a healthy stand of our Royal Super Shade Mix.
